Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 40

The Yacht-Master's new Oysterflex bracelet, developed and patented by Rolex, offers a sporty alternative to metal bracelets. The bracelet is attached to the watch case and the Oysterlock safety clasp by a flexible titanium and nickel alloy metal blade. The blade is overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer that is particularly resistant to environmental effects, extremely durable, and completely inert for the wearer. For added comfort, the inside of the Oysterflex bracelet is fitted with a patented longitudinal cushion system that holds the watch securely on the wrist, and is equipped with an 18 ct Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp. It also features the Rolex Glidelock extension system, designed and patented by the brand. This ingenious rack-and-pinion mechanism, integrated beneath the clasp, allows fine adjustment of the bracelet length in increments of approximately 2.5 mm, up to approximately 15 mm, without the need for tools. To preserve the beauty of its pink gold watches, Rolex created and patented a special 18 ct pink gold alloy cast in its own foundry: Everose gold. Introduced in 2005, 18 ct Everose is used in all pink gold Rolex Oyster models. The Yacht-Master's bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel is entirely crafted from precious metal (Everose gold or platinum) or fitted with a Cerachrom insert in high-technology ceramic, depending on the model. The raised polished numerals and graduations stand out clearly against the matt, sandblasted background. This functional bezel, which allows the user to calculate sailing time between two buoys for example, is also a key component of the model's distinctive visual identity. Like all Rolex Professional watches, the Yacht-Master 40 offers exceptional legibility in all conditions, and especially in the dark, thanks to its Chromalight display. The broad hands and indices in simple shapes (triangle, circle, rectangle) are filled with a luminescent material that emits a long-lasting glow.
