The Yacht-Master's new Oysterflex bracelet, developed and patented by Rolex, offers a sporty alternative to metal bracelets. The bracelet is attached to the watch case and the Oysterlock safety clasp by a flexible titanium and nickel alloy metal blade. The blade is overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer that is particularly resistant to environmental effects, extremely durable, and completely inert for the wearer. For added comfort, the inside of the Oysterflex bracelet is fitted with a patented longitudinal cushion system that holds the watch securely on the wrist, and is equipped with an 18 ct yellow gold Oysterlock safety clasp. It also features the Rolex Glidelock extension system, designed and patented by the brand. This ingenious rack-and-pinion mechanism, integrated beneath the clasp, allows fine adjustment of the bracelet length in increments of approximately 2.5 mm, up to approximately 15 mm, without the need for tools. Rolex possesses an unrivalled ability to cast the highest-quality 18 ct gold alloys in its own exclusive foundry. Different types of 18 ct gold are obtained depending on the proportion of silver, copper, platinum, or palladium added: yellow, pink, or white. They are crafted exclusively from the purest metals and meticulously examined in an in-house laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, before the gold is shaped and fashioned with the same exacting attention to quality. Rolex's commitment to excellence begins at the source. The Yacht-Master's bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel is entirely crafted from precious metal (Everose gold or platinum) or fitted with a Cerachrom insert in high-technology ceramic, depending on the model. The raised polished numerals and graduations stand out clearly against the matt, sandblasted background. This functional bezel, which allows the user to calculate sailing time between two buoys for example, is also a key component of the model's distinctive visual identity. Like all Rolex Professional watches, the Yacht-Master 42 offers exceptional legibility in all conditions, and especially in the dark, thanks to its Chromalight display. The broad hands and indices in simple shapes (triangle, circle, rectangle) are filled with a luminescent material that emits a long-lasting glow.
